Planting Design That Works in Real Gardens (Not Just Pretty Pictures)

A planting plan isn’t just about colour. The best borders are built on the boring but important fundamentals:

  • Right plant, right place (soil, light, exposure, moisture)
  • Seasonal interest across the year
  • Structure (shrubs, grasses, evergreens) as well as flowers
  • Correct spacing and quantities so it fills out properly
  • Plants that suit your lifestyle (low maintenance, wildlife-friendly, drought tolerant, etc.)

We design planting that looks natural, performs well in Derby/Nottingham conditions, and improves year after year — rather than collapsing after the first summer.

N

One Stop Service

We offer a one stop service to design, supply, prepare and plant your borders with a quick turnaround and no stress or hassle with dealing with multiple tradesmen.

N

Experienced, Knowledgeable Designer

We have an in-house plantsman and garden designer that will work on your planting border design and discuss your requirements. This will range from wanting a low maintenance plant border, requiring plants of a certain established size, or preferred colours.

N

Sourcing Plants

Many customers have paid for border and landscape designs elsewhere – but then struggle to source the plants. Plants will be for year-round interest and specific species (smaller/ larger/ different coloured flowers) – plants out of season or a certain species will not be readily available from local nurseries or online (let alone all plants available from one single supplier). All of our plants are sourced from a single supplier so all plants on the design can be sourced or easily substituted with similar varieties.

N

Aftercare Service

We give customers the information they need to maintain the borders once we have finished. We check up on our planting after completion to check to progress and health of plants and offer a maintenance service to keep on top of pruning and strategic weeding between young plants.

White rose, rudbeckia and ornamental grass planting border design and installation
N

Year-round interest adding colour, fragrance, shape and texture and taking the vision away from boundary fencing

N

An investment to your property - plants will develop and mature with time - an established garden border can add the wow factor to your property when having guests visit or if you ever come to sell the house

N

The best plants for your location and soil type. Not all plants do well in every location, and it can take a season to realise that a plant is not taking well to the spot - which essentially is a year wasted. By having us on hand to know from the design stage what plants will thrive well in the border - it saves years of trial and error on your side

N

We know what plant combinations work. The wrong combination of plants in the wrong place can lead to hinderance of plant growth and at worst killing plants or shrubs as they develop - which can be an expensive mistake in the long run.

N

Brilliant aftercare advice - if you are unsure about the health or identification of a plant, we are always on hand to offer assistance

Who Our Derby Garden Maintenance Service Is For (and Not For)

We’re a Great Fit If…

  • You’re in Derby or Nottingham and want planting that thrives, not just looks nice for a week
  • You want a border that has structure, seasonal interest and longevity
  • You’d like a clear plan you can follow — or want us to fully install it
  • You’d like a full aftercare plan and documentation with your design
  • You’re happy investing in a professional service (design from £250 incl. VAT)

We’re Probably Not the Right Choice If…

  • You want the cheapest possible plant list without considering conditions
  • You’re looking for a “random selection of colourful plants” with no long-term plan
  • You want instant mature results on a minimal budget (plants take time to establish properly)

We’re upfront about this because it saves everyone time and ensures we focus on the Derby gardens where we can add the most value.
